Saving Place – Museum of the City of NY – APRIL 21 – SEPT 13, 2015

The Museum of the City of New York presents SAVING PLACE: 50 Years of New York City Landmarks, a comprehensive exhibition exploring the roots and impact of a landmark
preservation movement that has transformed the City and been an engine of New York’s growth and success. In other words, if it wasn’t for this law, NYC would have lost lots of its great buildings and pre-war architecture that it’s so famous for. Following the demolition of the world-famous Pennsylvania Station—a huge loss to NYC, a movement came about that called for the preservation of New York City’s architectural history, prompting the signing of the landmarks law in 1965.
