While there have been many great exhibitions showcasing Jean-Michel Basquiat’s artworks, this spring and summer, the Brooklyn Museum exhibits a collection of Basquiat’s notebooks that are filled with poetry, sketches and personal thoughts. There are 160 pages of rarely seen documents on display along with some of his large-scale paintings and works on paper. Considered one of the best of his time, the wildly talented painter who died tragically in the 1980s but left behind a huge legacy was the epitome of downtown NYC cool. Go see it! More info.
